We have sm57 s on all the toms and the snare.
Floor tom rattle.
Due to a cramped space i have always had to have my 18 on my left side next to the the snare.
3 of the 57 s came in a drum mic kit with a beta52.
Is my floor tom not tuned right on my drums.

Anyone have any ideas what this is or if this is normal.

When placing mics and setting levels the other day i noticed a rattle and after hunting found it came from 2 of the sm57 s.
I just setup my vad503 and it s great.

And one to go between my two floor toms.
Not a buzzing but it s really odd.
The plastic piece on top is really really lose and rattles after tom hits.

I will definitely buy a couple more one to go between my mounted toms to keep the occasional rattle away i keep them really close.
As i understand both the snare and 14 tom have the same 3 ply heads.
However the 14 floor tom has an odd rattle from the head when played.
It totally makes a rattling noise and i hate it.
